BJP stages protest against MCC opposing ’artificial water scarcity’ in city

Mangaluru, April 12, 2017 : The District unit of the BJP staged a unique  protest   by  lining up buckets and pots in the shape of a tap, to  condemn the City Corporation over the issue of water scarcity

 Senior BJP leader and former MLC Monappa Bhandary who addressed the protestors came down heavily on Mayor Kavitha Sanil and alleged that she was stating  that there was shortage of water in Thumbay dam while the views of the officials was contrary. He charged the MCC of creating artificial water scarcity and accused the Mayor of resorting to politics over water. He also urged senior leader Janardhana Poojary to direct the Mayor to release water.

 

B Nagaraj Shetty, former minister who  also spoke on the occasion accused Mayor Kavitha Sanil of  extending support to the water tanker mafia. "False rumours of water shortage is spread across the city," he said.A protest march was also taken out from PVS  Circle  to MCC Premises under the leadership of party leaders Vedavyas Kamath and Satish Prabhu.

Former MLA Yogish Bhat, Rahim Uchil, Premanand Shetty and others participated in the protest.
