BJP sets ultimatum for reduction in bus fares; warns severe protest

Udupi, Nov 11, 2014: BJP workers under the aegis of the district unit of the party staged a Bus Roko agitation on November 10,  Monday to protest against the  failure of the state Government to  reduce the bus fares despite the reduction in fuel prices.

The protestors symbolically blocked KKSRTC and private buses as part of the protest. The agitators also warned of severe protest throughout the state if the bus fares were not reduced within a week.

Earlier, the protestors took out a protest march from near the Gandhi Circle to the Government bus stand where the agitation was held.

Udupi District BJP President Tingale Vikramajrun Hegde later submitted a memorandum to the DC seeking reduction in bus fares.

BJP leaders including Lalaji Mendon, former MLA, Katapady Shanker Poojari, BN Shanker Poojari, Yashpal Suvarna, Mattar Ratnaker Hegde and others participated in the protest.
