Mangaluru May 22, 2016: Senior Congress Leader Janardhana Poojary has said that the results of the five state elections have proved that Congress has gained an upper hand over the BJP as far as per centage of votes was concerned.
Addressing the Press at Congress office on Saturday May 21, Poojary said that the results have shattered the BJP hopes of creating a Congress free nation. While congratulating the BJP for forming a government in Assam, Poojary said the percentage of votes clearly showed the Congress dominance in Assam by securing 31% of vote share over BJP’s 29.5%.
If the Congress is the second largest party in Kerala with the BJP winning just one seat, Poojary said the BJP failed to secure even a single seat in Tamil Nadu where the Congress is in second position. In West Bengal too, as against the 3 seats secured by the BJP, the Congress has secured 44 seats. in Puduchery BJP once again failed to win even a single seat while the Congress secured 15 seats, he said.
It is a shameful defeat for the BJP in two states where it failed to secure even one seat, Poojary said and questioned Modi by saying “Where is the BJP?.”
"Modi is known for misleading people through his false promises. He has no control over the party. Voters of five states have decided to make BJP free nation," said Poojary.
Stating that Sonia Gandhi should continue to head the Congress, Poojary said it would be better for Priyanka Gandhi to take charge of the party campaign in Uttar Pradesh.
Regarding the recent bundh over Yettinahole, Poojary appreciated the positive response of the people towards the voluntary bundh."This is the first instance wherein Dakshina Kannada observed a voluntary bundh," he said adding Siddaramaiah need to withdraw Yettinahole project or else the people of Dakshina Kannada will definitely fight back, warned Poojary.
He criticized Social Welfare Minister Anjaneya for describing private schools as brothels and then making a quick u-turn and said it was a shameful and disgraceful act by the minister.
Poojary also lambasted Health Minister UT Khader for describing BBMP corporator NR Ramesh as “insane.” It is better for the minister to hold his tongue before making any statement, Poojary advised.
It may be recalled here that NR Ramesh has alleged that the state government was misusing National Health Mission scheme by submitted fake bills and has also claimed UT Khader’s involvement in the racket.
TK Sudhir, Corporator Appi and others were present.
