Mangaluru, Nov 21, 2014: Senior BJP leader and former chief minister Jagadish Shettar has said that his party has planned a huge protest on December 9 during the Belagavi session to condemn the ‘failure’ of the state government on various fronts. He also stated that over one lakh protestors are expected to converge.
Addressing press persons in the city on November 21, Friday after inaugurating the office of the BJP membership drive at the District BJP office, Shettar also criticised the state government for failing to form 43 new taluks announced during the erstwhile BJP rule. Even Kadaba, Brahmavar and Moodbidri were supposed to be new taluks, but the government is not interested, he alleged and added that the BJP would launch a protest against this.
Charging the state government of administrative failure, he said the state has completely lagged behind in development during the Congress tenure.
On the Nanditha case of Thirthahalli, he said the CID investigation ordered by the state government has failed to conduct a thorough investigation.
He also said that during the protest the BJP would demand the resignation of the State Home Minister KJ George for the failure of the government to check rising crimes including cases of sexual assaults on women. Referring the Kiss of Love campaign Shettar urged the state government to deny permission for such campaigns.
Shettar further charged the government of inaction against sand mafia and illegal mining activities and also demanded that state ministers Qamarul Islam and Dinesh Gundurao who face serious charges should be dropped from cabinet.
