BJP- Yuva Morcha to take out procession on September 7

Mangaluru, Sep 6: BJP Yuva Morcha to take out ’Mangaluru Chalo’ bike rally in the city regardless of the state government banning it. The city police as well as district administrations has issued orders prohibiting procession or any kinds like bike rallys for the coming days. However, BJP -Yuva Morcha decided to go on with it on Thursday September 7.

In a media meet at the BJP office today, MLA Aravind Limbavali said, “ The Congress Government is afraid of the BJP and they cannot stop us from protesting. It is nothing but imposing emergency situation. Our protest is against the state government’s anti-people attitude and irresponsible governess.

B S Yeddyurappa and Jagadish Shettar are also in town to extend moral support to Yuva Morcha in their rally. They will address the BJP workers and cader in the program to be held at Nehru Maidan from 11am to 2pm.

If the police prevented the procession, the party workers have decided to court arrest, the sources said.They said that the party workers from different parts of Dakshina Kannada and neighbouring Udupi would participate in the procession.

The police may allow them to hold a protest meeting at the Nehru Maidan and not in front of the office of Deputy Commissioner. However no permission had been given till this evening.

Meanwhile, Police Commissioner T.R. Suresh said that more than 100 Rapid Action Force personnel and 10 platoons each of the Karnataka State Reserve Police and City Armed Reserve police personnel have been deployed in different parts of the city to maintain law and order.

More than 100 police personnel from other parts of the State are being requisitioned, he said.

On Tuesday, the city police conducted a route march of the RAF, KSRP and CAR personnel in communally sensitive areas in Ullal, including Mogaveerpatna, Kotepura, Kodi, Paris Junction and Thokkottu junction.

Restriction has been imposed within the limits of Mangaluru city Commissionerate for two days, as per the order issued on Wednesday, September 6. The order, issued as per Section 35 of Karnataka Police Act, applies to all vehicles including four wheelers.The order bans rallies, processions of any sort by any organisation during the stated period.

Senior Police officials including former Police Commissioner, Chandrashekar are in city to assess the situation and guide the police force.
