BDIL hands over high speed intereceptor boat C-162 to Indian Coast Guard

Mangaluru, Mar 02, 2018: A high speed interceptor Boat, C-162 was delivered to the Indian Coast Guard  by the  Bharati Defence and Infrastructure Ltd (BDIL), Mangaluru at its premises here on March 1, Thursday.

The  C-162 which was launched on January 31 has  completed  successful harbour and sea trials in 28 days and has a speed of over 35 knots,  informed a press release from BDIL. C-162 is  sixth in a series of 4 high speed interceptor boats procured by Indian Coast Guard. It will be based at  ICG’s Kochi unit and will be commanded by Deputy Commandant Pawan Koyar.

The  vessel weighs around 60 dead-weight tonnage (DWT) and is 28 meter long.  The vessel has  Arneson Surface Drive propulsion system and is propelled by two engines of 1,650 KW each.

ICG’s Principal Director (Material) DIG H.P. Singh, Coast Guard Refit and Production Superintendent, Goa, DIG Atul Parlekar, BDIL’s Chief Operating Officer Narendra Kumar, BDIL’s President Pavithran Alokkan and others were present.
