BC Road tense as Hindu outfits gear up for protest despite prohibitory orders

Bantwal, July 7,2017: Tension has gripped B.C. Road in Bantwal on July 7, Saturday following the attempts being made by the Hindu Hitharakshana Vedike to  stage a protest condemning the recent attack on RSS activist Sharath as well as a number of other incidents of atrocities on Hindu community. That the protest has been planned despite  prohibitory orders under Section 144  in force, has added to the tension.

It has been learnt that Hindu activists  have gathered at several places in B.C. Road in hundreds despite police asking the people not to form crowds or hold any meeting.

Senior  police officials including Western Range IGP Harishekharan and  SP Sudheer Kumar Reddy are   in the town and are keeping a close watch on the developments.

The police personnel have conducted a march past and fire service vehicles have also been kept ready.

Several BJP leaders including  MPs Nalin Kumar Kateel, Shobha Karandlaje,    MLA Sunil Kumar,  Rajesh Naik, Jagadish Adhikari, Padmanabha Kottari and others have arrived. Hindu activists from across the district too  have arrived.

In another development, shops in the area are downing their shutters following fears of disturbance of peace.
