B.C. Road in need of serious road correction

Mangalore Today News Network

Bantwal , April 28, 2015 : Work on the RoB - road over bridge  is far from complete in spite of many promises by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to complete construction.

B.C. Road in need of serious road correction

The additional RoB under constructed on Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway crosses the Mangaluru-Hassan railway line. The delay has cumulative impact on traffic at B.C. Road Junction  with vehicles from many directions merging.

Presently, all vehicles have to move on the narrow, two-lane RoB originally existing on NH 48, causing vehicular movement to and from Mangaluru to be severely affected throughout the day said a local citizen  B.C. Road, and added the work is unlikely to be completed before the commencement of Monsoon, with NHAI again  putting forth this as an excuse for further delay.

The one way flyover built by NHAI in B.C. Road Town has added to the traffic problems  at this vital junction. Vehicles towards Mangaluru only are allowed on the flyover and those moving towards Hassan/Bantwal have to move below on the existing highway.  Also the spot hosts the main bus stand, both for private and KSRTC buses. Buses entering the stand from Hassan and those exiting towards Mangaluru create a chaotic road block.

The flyover was built under the Port Connectivity Project of NHAI, which built a four-lane road between B.C. Road and Surathkal.  It is not too late to correct this problematic situation now.
