Ayurvedic centres allowed under legal norms : HC

Mangaluru, Mar 02, 2019: The High Court directed government authorities to allow Ayurvedic centres to function.  Orders follow a writ petition by owners of 17 Ayurvedic and Panchakarma therapy centres in various parts of Mangaluru filed against the Mangaluru City Commissioner of Police and the City Corporation, the High Court has asked the petitioners to operate under legal norms.

 

Following the closure of 17 Ayurvedic and Panchakarma therapy centres by the police commissionerate and the MCC, the owners of the centres had approached the High Court, saying that the respondents were trying to scuttle their business activities.

Licences: After hearing, the court observed that the petitioners had availed of licences to run the Ayurvedic Panchakarma Therapeutic and Health Centre.

The court  directed the respondents to permit the petitioners to continue the business, subject to the condition that they do not carry out any unlawful or illegal activity on their premises.  “Needless to state that in case the petitioners carrying on any unlawful or illegal activity, the respondents shall be at liberty to take action against them,” the court has said.

The order was pronounced by Justice Alok Aradhe. Rajarama Sootyambail presented the argument on behalf of the petitioners and Additional Government Advocate Vijay Kumar A Patil argued on behalf of the government authorities.
