Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer M R Ravi  inaugurated the programme by accepting  an eye donation registration form.

In his address, he said already a total of 7,670 eye donors have been identified and that  it has been targeted to  identify 10,000 donors by the year end.


District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr Ramakrishna Rao who presided over the function spoke on the importance of eye donation and the procedure of eye donation pledge. He also gave information on  the treatment facilities available for mental patients under the District Mental Health Programme.

Jagannath Shetty Bala,  President of District Working Journalists Association, also spoke on the occasion.  Dr Srinivas Bhat,  psychiatrist   at K S Hegde  Medical College was the resource person. District Leprosy Control Officer and District Mental Health Programme Officer Dr Ratnaker  was also present.
