Awareness on healthy lifestyle practices needed: Kotecha

Ujire, Dec 16, 2017: AYUSH Ministry special secretary Dr Rajesh Kotecha said that Naturopathy and Yogic Science have recognition across the globe and there are ample opportunities for service in the field.   He was speaking after presenting the degree certificates to 106 graduates of SDM College Of Naturopathy And Yogic Sciences at Ujire on  Dec 15, Friday.

The graduates should be committed to safeguarding the health of the individuals. Healthy food helps in keeping the body sound and healthy. There is a need to create awareness of healthy practices among the people, he felt.

Commending the naturopathy treatment in Naturopathy Hospital in Dharmasthala, he said the Ministry of AYUSH has given its recognition to SDM College Of Naturopathy And Yogic Sciences in Ujire.

To protect the health of the people, the government has constituted National Health Commission which has been guiding the people from time to time. Good lifestyle and nutritious food help one to maintain health, Dr Kotecha added.

Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade said that one needs to have control over five senses.

“We should not lose our health for temporary happiness. The graduates are the ambassadors for naturopathy and yogic sciences,” Heggade said.

Ex-student of the College Kanak Soni also spoke on the occasion. College principal Dr Prashanth Shetty, SDM Educational Institutions Vice President Prof S Prabhakar and Secretary Dr B Yashovarma were present.  A total of 97 graduates and nine post graduate students received the degrees.
