Awareness is key to reducing incidence of HIV, AIDS’

Mangaluru, Dec 02, 2017: Speaking after inaugurating the World AIDS Day function organised by the Department of Health and Family Welfare and other organizations at the SDM College of Ayurveda.  Vinay Kumar Sorake, MLA, said on Dec 1, Friday that all efforts should be made to reduce the incidence of HIV/AIDS in Udupi district.

 

hiv.MLA Sorake said that there was a time, when people had some reservations about people with HIV/AIDS. But with increase in awareness, this had gone. Increasing awareness was the key to reducing the incidence of HIV/AIDS. Proper treatment and following the regimen prescribed by the doctors helped the persons with HIV/AIDS to lead normal lives, he said. Dinakar Babu, President of ZP, released pamphlets focusing on creating awareness on HIV/AIDS on the occasion. Sheela K. Shetty, Vice President of ZP, Nalini P. Rao, President of Taluk Panchayat, Sughandhi Shekhar, President of Udyavar Gram Panchayat, Lata, member-secretary of District Legal Services Authority, Prabhakar Upadhyaya, college principal, were present.
