Attack on news paper offices: main accused absconding

Mangalore, March 18: In connection with the attacks on news paper offices recently in Mangalore, the district police have started a search operation to nab the main accused, who has been absconing. Belived to be abroad now.

Earlier, the police have arrested one person on grounds of being involved in the attacks on the office of “Kannada Prabha,” which lies in the jurisdiction of the Mangalore North Police Station on March 16, Tuesday, said IGP Gopal B Hosur. The arrested is Ubaidullah (29).

Hosur spoke to journalists during a press meet organized in the SP Office on March 17, Wednesday, and said that the police are still investigating the issue. In response to a reporters’ query, Hosur said that the police have not yet confirmed the accused association with any organization. 

The police investigation team, comprising PSI Shivaprakash, PSI Manjunath, and others, was led by Inspector of Mangalore North Police Station Vinay P Gaonkar.

Two teams formed for attack on news paper offices

Ubaidullah, who is in the police custody now, said that two teams, comprising eight persons in each teams, were formed to attack on ‘Kannada Prabha’ and ‘Jayakirana’ offices. But he only revealed about his teams work in the attack. Along with eight persons, his team was formed at Bengare to attack on Kannada Prabha office. He had been given a responsibility to guard at outside of the news paper office. Two persons were deputed inside the office to guard and others had the responsibility to attack, he reveals.


But he has no idea of other team, which also comprising with eight persons, activities and their plan to attack on Jayakirana news paper office.
