Speaking to media men after inaugurating a  Workshop on prevention of harassment of women   organised at the Raman Pai Auditorium  in the city on August 5, Tuesday in memory of Mangalpady Namdev Shenoy, she gave a clarion call to women to fight atrocities.

“Women of Karnataka have requested to set up Gulaab  Gang in  the state. But it will be a difficult task for me to come here all the way from Uttar Pradesh. But will certainly set up Gulaab Gang if people co-operate,” she said.

Continuing, she said “ I have visited Bidar several times but this is my first  visit to Mangalore.”

“I have been working for the welfare of the society.  After I formed the Gulaab Gang I have received several calls seeking help. But the media men can help such people  more than me,” she said humbly.

“Our Gulaab Gang has strived hard for the safety of women. But it is not proper to blame the government alone for the atrocities, sexual crimes and corruption in the society. People must raise a voice.”

She also claimed that the Gulaab Gang formation has helped in reducing sexual crimes against women in her state.

Sampath Pal Devi also narrated the troubles she faced after setting up Gulaab Gang and added she is presently facing two cases and   her passport has also been seized by the police. “But never have I taken a step backward,” the woman with a grit said with determination.

Mangalpady Namdev Shenoy’s biography authored by RSS Pracharak Na Krishnappa was released on the occasion.
