Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s demise: State declares holiday on Aug 17

New Delhi, Aug 16, 2018 : State declares  holiday  for Schools, colleges and government tomorrow - August 17, after the death of Former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee. A true statesman and leader, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee passed away at 5:05 pm at AIIMS, New Delhi following a prolonged illness.

Central Government has also announced a 7 day state mourning as a mark of respect. There will be no entertainment programmes during the week. The national flag on Governmet buildings will be reduced to half-mast.

Many leaders have joined in the country’s sorrow as India pays its tribute to the former Prime Minister, who by his words and prose has won the hearts of friends and foes alike.
