Assault on visitors bathing in pond near Belthangady

Belthangady, June 05, 2016: As per reports, 6 persons from Chikkamagaluru were beaten up allegedly by a group of people in Kajuru village, near Belthangady, for taking bath in a temple pond linked to the Netravathi.


Assault.Mohammed Misbah and five others from Akshaya Nagar of Balehonnur in Chikkamagaluru district had come on a pilgrimage to a mosque in Kajuru village. It is alleged that on they entered the pond linked to the Netravathi near Kolli temple.

A group of people from Kajuru village saw these pilgrims and rushed towards the pond. They rained blows on Misbah and five others. On a complaint by Misbah, the police have registered a case of assault against Surendra Poojary and other members of the group. The situation was tense after the clash.
