Asian Chess title for visually challenged, pre final round, Kishan in sole lead

Mangaluru, Mar 31, 2017: Reports show that India’s Kishan Gangolli won his penultimate round game against countryman Yudhajeet De and is in pole position to clinch the IBCA Asian Chess title for the visually challenged.

A draw will be enough for the four-time National ‘A’ champion from Karnataka to win the trophy.

At the end of the seventh round, he has six-and-half points at the Dr. T.M.A. Pai Hall here on Thursday.

Trailing him by one point are Makwana Ashvin K. and Soundarya Kumar Pradhan, also from India.

Final round.


The eighth and final round will start at 9 a.m. The valedictory ceremony will be held at the first floor of Dr. T.M.A. Pai Hall at 4 p.m. on Friday.

Playing white on the top board Yudhajeet De of West Bengal opted for the Vienna gambit, Kishan declined the gambit and went on the offensive.

Yudhjeet erred while defending and surrendered on the 32nd move.
