Mangaluru, Dec 8, 2019: The Congregation of the Apostolic Carmel (AC) Nuns celebrated the solemn Perpetual Profession taking of vows on December 7 Saturday at Maryhill, Mangaluru. Sixteen nuns took final vows. Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore officiated at the Solemn  Eucharist along with 13 priests. This congregation of nuns are in Mangalore since long

The Sisters - Karnataka Province – Srs. Christina Delphine, Renita Baretto, Ancilla Pais and Vinitha DSouza; Southern Province - Sr. Linta Joy; Western Province – Srs. Marie Jenifa,  Monica Andrade, Mariet Tirkey, and Alma Toppa; Sri Lanka Province – Srs Mary  Priyavathani, Mary Christina, Maurice Mary, Maria Allen, Maristella, Mary Kosala,  and Mary Queencly made their Final Profession and offered their lives forever in the service of the Lord.

The Bishop in his homily preached on love – both divine and human love relating it to religious life.  Congratulating the sisters for deciding to follow their Lord through the consecrated way of  life, he urged them to remain true to their calling and to make their life fruitful in the service of the people. The Bishop also congratulated the parents and family members of  the professed sisters for offering their daughters to the service of the Lord through the Apostolic Carmel Congregation and to pray for vocations to priestly and religious life.

Sister Susheela, the Superior General accepted their vows in the name of the Church.  The parents and relatives of the Sisters and a large number of the Apostolic Carmel  Sisters participated in the solemn celebration. The Sisters were felicitated for taking a holy step of offering their entire lives in the service of the Lord. We appreciate and congratulate them for their wholehearted ‘yes’ and their faithfulness to God. Indeed the Apostolic Carmel is grateful to God for the gift of twenty six Tertians.

4 sisters of East Africa Region - Srs. Franscisca Mutindi, Rose Mutheu, Melania Makena, and Irene Theresa Masinde made their final vows in East Africa,  Kenya on November 15 and Six sisters of Eastern Province - Srs. Jacinta Hembram,Junita Marngar, Lilmoni Lucy Besra, Mary Stella Mawa, Mary Orida and Salinda Sangriang will make their final profession on December 14 at Kolkatta. The Apostolic Carmel order is historic in India and are pioneers of women’s education and social welfare, now with institutions throughout most of  the world.
