Udupi , May 19, 2017: MP Shobha Karandlaje,  has demanded a thorough probe into the death of the IAS officer and Commissioner of Food and Civil Supplies, Karnataka, Anurag Tewari, in Lucknow under “suspicious circumstances”.

Anurag Tewari In a letter to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, copies of which were released to the press, MP. Karandlaje said that as per media reports, Tewari’s body was found on the roadside at Hazratganj area of Lucknow near Meera Bai Guest House, where he was staying.

This, by itself, made the death suspicious because it was incomprehensible that an IAS officer could be found dead on the roadside.

“What makes this tragic event look murkier is the fact that even before the probe has commenced the media has been putting out a story that the officer in question had a fight with his wife. I strongly feel that there is something more than what meets the eye in this episode. Only a thorough enquiry can bring out the truth,” she said.

“…I need not have to emphasise that this tragedy warrants a thorough probe from the highest authority to unravel the mystery. I request you to kindly look into the matter and direct the concerned to take up the matter with utmost importance and urgency it deserves,”  Karandlaje wrote.
