Anti-suicide campaign in Dakshina Kannada kicks off

Mangaluru: September 10, 2015: For the first time, the state government, in association with Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, will host World Suicide Prevention Day across Karnataka.

 

 

 

 

In DK district, the event will be held by Dakshina Kannada District Legal Services Authority at the zilla panchayat hall on Thursday.

The theme of World Suicide Prevention Day 2015 is ’Preventing Suicide: Reaching Out and Saving Lives’.

The programme will focus on educating farmers on various government schemes to empower them economically and socially," said B Ganesh, member of Dakshina Kannada District Legal Services Authority More than 300 farmers are expected to take part. The event will be inaugurated by principal district and sessions judge M G Uma, who is also the president Dakshina Kannada District Legal Services Authority, at 10am. Prof Ravish Thunga, A J Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, and Prof Srinivas Bhat, KS Hegde Medical Academy will interact with farmers.
