Anti social, rowdy elements, strict monitoring : City police chief

Mangaluru, May 01, 2018: Speaking at the SC/ST grievance meet, City Police Commissioner Vipul Kumar said that the police department is carefully monitoring the rowdy and anti-social elements to ensure that the upcoming elections are held smoothly.

A few Dalit leaders alleged that a few rowdy elements have been threatening voters in Akashabhavana, Barapade and other areas. To which, the Commissioner urged to file a complaint on threatening and wooing the voters. Strict action would be initiated against the accused and name of the complaints will not be disclosed, he said.

He said that security bonds have been collected from rowdy elements in commissionerate limits. They have been warned not to be part of any illegal activity.

Route march  : The Commissioner directed the DCP(s) to hold route march in sensitive areas to instill confidence among the voters. ACP cadre nodal officers have been appointed in all the assembly constituencies.

DCP (Law and Order) Hanumantharaya said the rowdy-sheeters list have been revised as per the direction of the home department. Now, the revision of the list has been suspended, which will resume after the election process.

Dalit leader  alleged that Dalit atrocity cases are not probed properly in Ullal police station, the DCP promised to look into the matter.
