Mangaluru, July 15, 2018: Speaking at Mysuru division railway officials’ coordination meeting chaired by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel here on July 14, Saturday -   Sudarshan Puttur of Railway Commuters’ Forum said the night to train to Bengaluru does not have enough number of coaches and instead of attaching coaches to Karwar and Kannur trains, it is better to run a separate night train to Bengaluru with a gap of one hour.

Reacting to it, Mysuru Division Additional Divisional Manager R K Sinha said it is not possible to start another night train between Mangaluru and Bengaluru. The speed limit on Sakleshpur-Subrahmanya Ghat section should be limited to 30 km per hour, he added. However, the office-bearers of the railway forum asked if goods train can run on the stretch, then why can’t Express train.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said Gommata Express between Bengaluru and Mangaluru should not be suspended on Saturday.

A large number of passengers from Bengaluru are likely to come to Mangaluru on Saturday. The officials should review the timetable of Gommata Express, he said.

Sudarshan Puttur said that the passenger train between Puttur and Mangaluru should be extended to Subrahmanya. The stopping of the passenger train at Mangaluru Junction for one hour in the morning is inconveniencing the passengers. To this, Kateel said the issue should be sorted out after holding a discussion with Palakkad railway division officials. The Puttur passenger train can be extended to Subrahmanya at night. The train, in return, can start its journey to Mangaluru in the morning, he added.

The MP said the suitable land should be identified for the construction of railway underbridges between Adyar-Kemmanjoor and Valacchil-Farangipet.

MLA Vedavyas Kamath said at least eight to ten buses ply to Tirupati from Mangaluru and Udupi daily. A new train should be introduced to Tirupati via Mangaluru-Hassan, he demanded.

The MP said the railway line from Padil to Shiradi Ghat comes under Mysuru division. Unfortunately, the officials failed to attend the meeting held in Mangaluru. The Mysuru railway division officials are showing negligent attitude, he said and warned of complaining it to the Railway Ministry.  Kateel directed the officials to submit a report on the grievances in the railway stations coming under Mysuru division from Padil to Shiradi  Ghat.
