Anna was the wife of Stephen Mascarenhas (Hemacharya), editor-in-chief of Daijiworld Magazine. Though she was first diagnosed with cancer in January 2017, she had responded well to initial treatment and made a full recovery within six months. The dreaded cancer relapsed during early 2018 and despite treatment, she succumbed this morning.

In a double tragedy, the family had also lost a son Ian Mascarenhas (28) in a road accident on December 23, 2017. The loss of her son is said to have devastated Anna Mascarenhas and possibly triggered the cancer to relapse. She is survived by her husband, her only surviving child, daughter Ina, her aged mother and brothers.

In view of restrictions due to COVID-19 lockdown, her mortal remains were blessed at Ave Maria Palliative Care, in a simple prayer ceremony led by Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza, parish priest of Bondel Church. As Anna had expressed her wish to donate her body for medical research, her mortal remains were subsequently handed over to Father Muller Hospital.

Daijiworld team headed by Daijiworld Media founder Walter Nandalike has condoled the demise of Anna Mascarenhas.
