Anganavadi workers deplore privatisation moves by Govt

Mangaluru, Feb 8, 2015 :   Varalakshmi, State President of the Karnataka Anganavadi Employees Association has alleged that the Union Government was planning to entrust Anganavadi Kendras to NGOs under  its Mission Mode scheme.

Speaking to reporters here,  she demanded that the ICDS  should not be privatised for any reason and added that any such move would hit hard Anganavadi workers.
Varalakshmi further said it is not enough if the government just speaks about women’s empowerment, it should also  help Anganavadi workers raise their standard of living, Varalakshmi demanded. She also stated that  the Anganavadi workers will continue their fight until the demands were fulfilled. She also urged the government to fix the minimum wages of Anganavadi workers at Rs 10,000.
