Udupi, June 15,2017 : A bronze icon of the great exponent of Dwaita philosophy, Saint Madhwacharya has been found at the Jaladurga Temple at Tellaru in Karkala.
Informing this to reporters here, Prof. T Murugeshi, archaeologist said the icon might be that of 14th or 15 century AD and was the first such icon found so far. So far two stone images of Madhwacharya have been found. Both the images are of 16th century and found in Udupi Krishna Mutt and Madhwacharya’s birth place Pajaka.
The bronze icon is nearly 12 cm in height and shows Acharya seated on a high pedestal. Madhwacharya is shown with quite long ear lobes and a smiling face.
