Amma’s visit to hug Mangaluru awaited on March 8 and 9

Mangaluru, Mar 07, 2019: Mata Amrutanandamayi Devi, popularly known as ’Amma’, will give darshan to her devotees during the two-day ’Amrutha Sangama 2019’ being organised at Mata Amritanandamayi Math in Boloor March 8 and 9.

’Amma’ is expected to participate in several programmes on both days. More than 50,000 devotees are expected to participate in the event and seek blessings by hugging Amma on the occasion, Mata Amrutanandamayi Seva Samiti president Prasadraj Kanchan told a media meet.

Religious rituals, like Navagraha Shanti Homa, Maha Sudarshana Homa, Bhavati Homa and Alankara Puja will be held from dawn to dusk on both days as part of Brahmasthana Mahotsava, he added.   There will also be Bhajan and Satsang programmes and thousands of devotees will participate in these programmes, he said.

"Amma’s visit is expected to draw devotees from in and around Mangaluru and other centres in Karnataka and outside India too. Amma will hug each and every individual devotee who visits her during the darshan programme. The devotees need not wait in long queues as the token numbers will be displayed on a screen. No sooner their token is displayed on the screen, devotees can seek blessings of Amma", he added.

Kanchan said they are planning to distribute wheelchairs to physically challenged persons and scholarships to students. More than 25 wheelchairs will be distributed and Rs 50,000 scholarship will be given to students from economically backward families, he said.

District In-charge Minister U T Khader, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Corporation Bank Managing Director P V Bharathi, Taranga weekly managing editor Sandhya S Pai, MLA Vedavyas Kamath, Mayor Bhaskar and others will be the chief guests at the programme, he said.

Foundation stone will be laid for the construction of a model toilet under Amala Bharat (Swachh Bharat) campaign. Under the self-employment initiative, sewing machines will be distributed to beneficiaries, sarees to members of Amrutha Shri project, he added.

Besides mass feeding of devotees visiting the math, vehicles will be arranged to ferry devotees from the Ladyhill Circle from bus stand and railway stations to the Math in Boloor.

Committee’s former president Vaman Kamath, secretary Suresh Amin, media coordinators Vasudev Boloor and Madhav Suvarna were present at the press conference.
