Ambergris worth Rs 1.57 crores seized in Mangaluru, 3 arrested

Mangaluru, Nov 25, 2023: The City Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths arrested three individuals for allegedly possessing ambergris (whale vomit) at Mangaluru city on Saturday.

The CCB sleuths, acting on reliable information, conducted a raid near Pumpwell leading to the arrest of Pyarejan, also known as Shetu (37), a resident of Chikkamangaluru living in Mangalipadavu, Vitla; Badruddin (28) from Mangalipadavu, Vitla; and Rajesh R (22) from Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu.

The confiscated whale vomit weighed 1.575 kg, having a market value of Rs. 1.57 crores. Additionally, the police seized a car and mobile phones valued at Rs. 5 lakh from the arrested individuals.
