The attack on Shakeel Mulla’s house was a retaliation to February 2014 attack on two youths named Saleed Damudi and Abubakar Gangavali who were kidnapped and taken to a remote area called Karikal where they were attacked with a sharp knife.

Abubakar, one of the victims, identifed Shakeel Mulla as one of the attackers that led to public outrage against the latter. Later, an angry mob vandalized Shakeel Mulla’s house in which 9 accused were arrested and later released on bail and Saddam was one of them.

Saddam Hussain has been languishing in jail since January 2015 in an alleged role in Bangalore Church Street Blast.
