Alleged rape by professor : Victim on silent protest at Mangalore University demanding justice

Mangalore, Oct 29, 2014 : A young woman who has  accused an Associate Professor  in the Department of Commerce of Mangalore University of sexually abusing her since one year, is on a silent protest at the University premises since October 29, Wednesday morning demanding justice.

According to the woman, Dr Vedava, the Associate Professor  had raped her at her house at Kaikunje in Bantwal Taluk on June 2, 2013 when  her family members were away. In her complaint to University Vice Chancellor Prof. K Bhyrappa the woman has said that the Associate Professor had even exploited her later on  after promising marriage.

It has been gathered that the  victim came into contact with Dr Vedava while she was  studying Kodava language under the University’s Kannada Development Project.

Though she had initially lodged a case of rape against the professor in Konaje station, the case was later transferred to Bantwal station.

The young woman is seen protesting with a placard in hand which reads “Dr Vedava You Have Cheated Me  .. You Have Done Injustice To me .. I want Justice from You.”

The Vice Chancellor has assured to investigate the case.
