Alleged police excesses on Khureshi: Meet sets 15 day deadline to cops to fulfil demands

Mangaluru, April 5, 2017 : A meeting of Congress, leaders, corporators and  taluk and Zilla Panchayat members of the party held at the Zeenath Baksh Auditorium in the city on April 5, Tuesday has strongly condemned the alleged excesses by CCB police on  Ahmed Khureshi and also the atrocities on  protestors who demanded the  release o f Khureshi  on Tuesday.

 The meeting demanded that  compensation be provided  to Khureshi who has lost his kidney, and that all his treatment expenses be borne by the government. The CCB police who  are responsible for the alleged excesses on Khureshi should also be suspended and  the Police  Commissioner should be transferred, the meeting demanded and set a deadline of 15 days for the Police Department to fulfil the demands.

Congress leader and former mayor Ashraf who was among the participants said the meeting would be convened again to decide on the future course of action if the  demands are not fulfilled. He also demanded dissolution of the existing CCB ad make new appointments. He further alleged that  atrocities on minorities have been continuing in the district since years.
