Alleged atrocities on youth by Manipal cops : Mother files complaint to DC

Manipal, Mar 28 2018: A woman named Nalini Shekhar of Udyavar Bolje has lodged a complaint with the Udupi Deputy Commissioner alleging that the Manipal Police have  committed atrocities on her son Rakesh Poojary (23) after summoning him to the station in an assault case.


Manipal cops.jpShe stated that the cops had summoned him to the station to settle a case pertaining to an assault near the Manipal Corner on March 25.  "Though Rakesh was made to sign a bond, later the constables Vishwajith, Naveen and others abused and assaulted him and have even broken his limbs," Nalini has alleged.

She even complained that the cops have threatened to fix Rakesh in the same case again and urged the DC to ensure that the  accused cops are suspended.

According to the cops, Rakesh was summoned to the station  based on a complaint of assault by MIT professor Chandrakanth (36). Based on CCTV camera footage  Rakesh was summoned to the station and made to sign a bond. However, later he had inflicted self injuries using blade and has got himself hospitalised, the cops claim.
