Mangaluru, Feb 16, 2017 : Mallik Jain, Dheeraj Kella and Uday Jain who have been named as suspects in the Sowjanya rape and murder case by the latter’s parents, convened a press meet here on February 16, Thursday and denied allegations against them. "The allegations are totally false," they said.
They also claimed that they had been subject to interrogation and all tests by the CBI and the police. The CBI Special Court had even summoned us in November 2016," informed Mallik Jain while speaking to the Press.
Dheeraj Kella who also spoke said "All the three of us have undergone undergone blood test, DNA test, lie detector, brain mapping tests and even our call details were checked in Chennai and Bengaluru in March 2015. Even the court said that there was no need necessary for further investigation of us. However, when the CBI Special Court summoned us in November 2016 to face trial we moved the High Court. We are still considered accused," he said.
Stating that they names were unnecessarily dragged in the case, Dheeraj said " The three of us are prepared for further probe and all tests if Sowjanya’s parents demand so." He also clarified that the three of them were not having any link with any political party.
On the arrest of Santosh Rao who is now named accused in the case, Dheeraj said as part of his work in the temple, when he was moving around at Bahubali Hillock when it was time for closure, he noticed Saantosh moving suspiciously and even trying to run away on seeing them. "He was caught and handed over to the police," he said adding "It were the local people who linked him to the case,"
He further reiterated that even they want to ensure justice in the case with the arrest of the guilty.
Meanwhile, Uday Jain who also spoke said he was an autorickshaw driver and he neither knew Dheeraj and Mallik Jain until their names figured in the case. He also clarified that they also did not know about Sowjanya or her family.
