Mangaluru, Aug 07, 2020: DK District in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary has said that private hospitals and medical college hospitals have to provide 50% of their beds to the government for effective Covid management.
He was speaking during his visit to the AJ Hospital and Srinivas Medical College on Thursday following a request by Mangaluru North MLA Dr Bharath Shetty.
Protection of public health is the priority of the government, he said adding private hospitals have to co-operate with the government in the treatment of Covid patients in the wake of rise in cases in the district. The private hospitals will have to provide treatment to Covid patients at the rate fixed by the government, he said.
He also said private hospitals have also been instructed to conduct Covid tests free of cost for the people and added the government was supplying rapid test kits even to private hospitals.
Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra asked all private hospitals to put up a large board at the entrance giving details of Covid treatment, fees and Ayushman scheme details. He also said all medical college hospitals have to do 100 rapid antigen tests free of cost every day.
MLA Dr Bharath Shetty, ZP CEO Dr Selvamani, AJ Hospital Director Dr Prashanth Marla, District Health officer and other officials were present.
