All efforts will be made to trace missing fishing boat: Khanna

Mangaluru, Feb 21, 2019: Avinash Rai Khanna, vice-president of BJP, said on Februrary 20, Wednesday that the Union government would do all it can to trace the fishing boat from Malpe with seven fishermen on board, which went missing off Goa coast on December 15, 2018.
He was speaking at an interaction titled ‘Bharat Ke Man Ki Baat, Modi Ke Saath’ with the fishermen organized by the district unit of the BJP.
BJPs Khanna said the government would leave no stone unturned to trace the boat. If fishermen had any information on this, they can provide it and those would be followed up.
He said the Modi government worked for the uplift of the poor. It started the Jan Dhan Yojana, which led to financial inclusion and stopped leakage of subsidies.
It provided housing for the poor and constructed toilets for those houses which did not have them. It took a tough stance against terrorism and launched surgical strikes against terrorist camps in 2016.
The economy of the country was now in a much better shape than during the last 65 years. The Modi government also provided LPG connections to poor families.
“The people have two choices: decide whether they want a strong and able leadership of Mr. Modi or a leaderless and issueless coalition,” Mr. Khanna said.
Shobha Karandlaje, MP, said it was unfortunate that the missing fishing boat from Malpe, Suvarna Tribhuja, could not be traced even after 68 days. She had personally met Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on this issue.
She had spoken to Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. A delegation of fishermen also met Prime Minister Modi in New Delhi and brought the matter to his notice.
The Union government should not charge cess for diesel provided to fishermen. It should remove the 5% GST on industries connected to fisheries. It should provide more subsidies to the fishermen, MP Karandlaje said.
