Mangaluru, Dec 02, 2014: State Minister for Health and Family Welfare UT Khader has said that Janasanjivini units offering generic drugs and diagnostic facilities to patients at prices fixed by the government will come up in all district hospitals within the next three months.
Speaking to reporters in the city on December 2, Tuesday, Khader stated that the fully air-conditioned facility will also come up in Taluk Hospitals in due course of time.
The Minister also stated that he would propose the setting of a Government Medical college in Mangaluru, which has been a long standing demand. However, the project may take a few years to be realised, Khader further informed.
On this occasion he informed that the full-fledged mortuary, sewage treatment plant, Intensive care Unit (ICU) with 12-bedded semi-ICUs, X-ray centre, DRTB centre and Club foot care centre, all set up at a cost of Rs 1.6 crore at Wenlock Hospital will be inaugurated on December 5.
Earlier, the minister attended a meet convened to discuss the arrangements for the 20th Urus of Quthubuzzman Asseyyid Muhammed Shareeful Madani scheduled to be held at Ullal from April 2 to 26. He directed the administration to ensure the smooth conduct of the Urus and also to repair the roads connecting Ullal Darga.
Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim also attended the meeting.
