All Sevas cancelled in Dakshina Kannada temples from today ; only darshan allowed

Mangaluru, March 17, 2020:  Beginning from today all Sevas in all religious shrines in the  district will be cancelled.  People can visit shrines only to have darshan, informed Additional DC  M J Roopa.

The decision was taken at a meeting held at the DC office here on March 17, Tuesday under the leadership of State health Minister  Sriramulu, in the wake of the increasing Coronavirus cases in the state.

Beginning from today, only the temple staff can participate in the festivals of Temples and Daivasthanas, the Additional DC said.

Preparations were underway to restrict entry of  public to beaches. Thermal screening will begin at railway stations from today, she informed

Sriramulu informed the meeting that a testing lab would soon be opened in Mangaluru in order to detect coronavirus cases.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Roopesh, MLA  U T Khader, ZP CEO Selvamani and other officials.
