Mangalore, Oct 14, 2014: Addressing media on October 14, Organisation Convener Praveen Kumar said that, The Institute of Karate and Allied Arts will organise the 32nd All India Budokan Karate Federation Championship -2014, at Srinivas Mallya Indoor Stadium in Mangalore from October 16 to 19. He added  2000 competitors from 22 states will take part in the championship.


All india karate The registration and inauguration will be held on October 16. The sport torch will be lit at Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan, Pandeshwar, at 9 am by Health Minister U T Khader. The relay runners will carry the torch to Srinivas Mallya indoor stadium in a procession. The inaugural ceremony will be held at 4 pm at the indoor stadium. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the championship while District in-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai will preside.

Cine actor and All India Budokan Karate Federation member Suman, Century Building Industries Pvt Ltd Managing Director Dr P Dayanand Pai, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA J R Lobo, AIBKF President C Hanumantha Rao and others will be will be the guests of honour.

The event will be held in three different levels: Sub Juniors (below 12 years), Juniors (12-18 years) and Seniors (above 18 years).

The competitors will participate in different belt groups and these groups are further sub divided in to age/ weight groups. The five main events in the championship are: Individual Kata, Team Kata, Weapon Kata, Individual Kumite and Rotation team Kumite. There will be totally 350 events. The first place winners of individual Kumite in senior black belt groups will fight for the Grand Champion male and Grand Champion female titles. The states with highest points will be awarded with the overall championship trophies.
