Ajay Sports Club to organize Tulunada Tuluvera Parbha

Mangalore, Oct 22, 2012 : The Kulai-based Ajay Sports Club will organize a two-day Tulunada Tuluvera Parba at Chandu Bai Gobbudha Kala of Shri Venkataramana School in Kulai on Oct 27, Saturday and Oct 28, Sunday.


Announcing the above at a press conference held at Press Club on Oct 22, Monday, K. L. Pejawar, chief convener of the event, said that Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, dharmadhikari of Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala, will inaugurate the event at 4:00 p.m. on Oct 27. K. Suresh Bhandary of Mumbai will inaugurate the Ajay Vidyanidhi Scheme, and Dr. Mohan Alva will preside over the event.

The purpose of organizing this event is to promote and protect the culture of Tulunadu and preserve its rural games.

Rural games such as Goli, Laggori, and Olitha Sotthulu will be organized for children from Std. I to Std. VII. A Tulu folk song competition and painting competition will be held for high school students, he said.


While games such as Kuttidonne, Gidigobbu, Laggori, and Thappangai will be organized for boys, games such as chennemane, Usuludha Gobbu, tonka, and jubilee will be held for girls. Competitions such as Mudikattunu, Koridha Katta, Porludha Mundas, and others will be organized for men, while contests such as Chennemane, beedie rolling, and madal madepunu will be held for women. Senior citizens can take part in games such as Paddhana, ural, and beera.


Kadri Saheb, Mutthappana Kodikere, Lucy Bai Kulai, Dhammanna of Mahakali Temple, Bharath Kumar, Gangadhar Kulai, Guddanna Moolya, Sadashiva Acharya Kulai, Yamuna Kulai, and Varija Kulai will be felicitated on this occasion.


Among those present were Ganesh Hosabettu, chief honorary president; President Yadava Shetty; Vice President Bharath Kumar Shetty; Secretary Ajith Kumar Shetty; and others.
