After pain, agony and sufferings, endolsulfan victim’s family now face bank recovery

Kasaragod, May 21, 2017 (Mathrubhumi): An endolsulfan victim’s son, who suffered serious back injury in a fall, is now facing bank recovery proceedings over the loan taken for the treatment of his deceased father.

Chaalinkal-native Krishnan had got into the public well to help his neighbour with drinking water. But he slipped and fell and suffered severe injury to his backbone and spinal cord.

Krishnan, who is an auto driver, has been advised two years’ medical treatment to get back into normal life.

He used to be the sole breadwinner of the family that comprised his mother, wife and two children. The family already spent Rs 2 lakh for his treatment at a hospital in Mangalore. Krishnan’s hospital expenses are met by his brother Ganeshan who is also an auto driver.

Krishnan’s father, a victim of endosulfan, died after spending long time in hospital. The family had to spent a considerable amount for his treatment then. They had loaned their house and land for Rs 10 lakh from bank. Krishnan’s accident came as a jolt to the family, which is facing bank recovery procedures. His mother Valli is also suffering from age-related ailments.

The family has sent a request to the Chief Minister, seeking to write off their loan considering that their father was an endosulfan victim. A request has been submitted to the District Collector as well. Krishnan and family are seeking the help from noble minds.
