Mangaluru, April 23, 2020: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh in a notification issued on April 23, Thursday has declared as a containment zone areas in and around the First Neuro Hospital at Padil after Patient Number 432 who was earlier admitted to this hospital was tested positive for Coronavirus. The private hospital is located at Padil in Kannur village.
The hospital will now be a supervised isolation centre with Dr Rajesh Shetty as the nodal officer, the notification said.
Kannada Gudde, MCC Road towards the east, Ramanatha Kripa Rice Mill on the west, Bengaluru National Highway 73 on the North and a government drain on the south have been fixed as the boundaries of this containment zone where strict lockdown rules will be implemented. The zone has two residential houses and five shops.
Strict lockdown rules will also be observed in a buffer zone of five kms around the containment zone. The buffer zone boundaries are Kallapu on the east, Kudupu on the west, Falnir on the South and Farangipete on the North. This place has 41,900 houses, 1,808 shops and has a total population of 1,82,500.
Tahsildar and Taluk Magistrate of Mangaluru is the incident commander who will be in-charge of the containment zone, the notification from the DC said.
