After attack on youth, people protest before Ullal police station

Ullal, Sep 5, 2014: Abhishek Poojary (26), a resident of Sundaribhag in Ullal,  who was riding a bike was assaulted by miscreants at Basthipadpu in Ullal police station limits on Sept 3, late night. Members of Hindu organisations and BJP workers gheraoed Ullal police station on Sept 4, alleging the police failed  to prevent repeated untoward incidents in Ullal.

The youth, was travelling to his home from a gym in Thokkottu, along with his friend Shivaraj on a bike. Two miscreants who came from behind stabbed Abhishek near Basthipadpu.  He was seriously injured and was admitted to a private hospital in Mangalore. His kidney was removed as it was damaged by the weapon used. 

Police Commissioner R Hithendra visited Ullal police station on Sept 4. The BJP workers who thronged at the station alleged the police failed to nab the culprits. They accused that workers of Hindu organisations were repeatedly targeted in Ullal. BJP Block President Chandrashekhar Uchil warned of staging a huge protest if the police fail to nab culprits.

Reward to the informer  : U T  Khader declared a cash reward to the person who informs the identity of culprits who assaulted the two youth at Ullal on Sept 3, night. Assuring of not revealing the identity of the informer, he said that he would give the reward amount to the informer voluntarily and not on behalf of the government.  Expressing concern over the increased number of murder attempt incidents in Ullal limits, Khader requested general public not to lend ears to communal forces that are trying to spoil peace in the town, rather co-operate with police to nab the culprits. “The assault took place within two km radius of Ullal police station which suggests that culprits are not bothered about law. I have directed the police commissioner to take steps to alter the police set-up so as to avoid any criminal activities. The police have been asked to control the menace of increased anti-social elements,” the Health Minister Khadar said.
