goonda act on Manoj kumar Mangaluru, Nov 2, 2014: Goonda Act has been invoked against   Hindu Jagarana Vedike activist Manoj Kumar Kodikere alias Manoj Thokur on November 1, Saturday. He is the second person to be booked under the act in the past one week period. The police had recently invoked the Act against Keshava Poojary alias Choni of Someshwar and had shifted him to Bellary jail.

Manoj has however been taken to Dharwad Jail. The police had earlier summoned him to the Suratkal  police station.  He is learnt to have arrived along with Satish Muchur, son of ex-mayor Rajani Dugganna.

Manoj is the prime accused in Kabir murder case and was also suspected to be an accused in the Sukhananda Shetty murder case in Kulai. In a more recent case, he was accused of  threatening Corporator Pratibha Kulai through some youth while she was campaigning for the Parliamentary polls in Kodikere area.

Though the Hindu Jagarana Vedike had given a call for a bundh on November 3, Monday in protest against the invoking of Goonda  Act  against Manoj, later the bundh call was withdrawn. Sources said a decision on the future course of action would be taken after deliberations.
