After 6 weeks of Sec 144 in DK police personnel under stress

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, July 11,2017: Reports and claims indicate  no fresh violence, cops deployed from many districts are getting increasingly restive and troubled with prohibitory orders in place in four taluks of Dakshina Kannada — Bantwal, Puttur, Sulia and Belthangdy — for the past 6 weeks.

 DK police personnel under stress

Most of the police hands, who are here on a week-long duty, will get a week’s break before they report to their respective stations across the state. They are, however, relieved only if a replacement from their district or station arrives.

A major stone wall is the meager daily allowance of Rs 70. While some said food was provided to them where they are posted, others claimed they get breakfast, evening tea and one time food (provided by the department at the check post).

"Our families are back home for weeks together and in case of emergencies we have no other recourse but to pray to God," said a constable from here after a week’s break.

The difficult matter for outstation cops is food as well. "I have found that hotels in Mangaluru use coconut oil, which is not palatable to us," said one police person, most of the out side police personnel’s staple food is ragi mudde and saaru. "The only relief is the incessant rain, which we have never seen in our place," one said grinning.

Not forgetting the dangerous mosquitoes in  halls where they are putting up. " My children I pray should never join police force. This is a punishment job, no duty hours, leave or respite. Leave on the books is rarely sanctioned by superiors.
