Afghanistan’s first lady pilot makes a quiet landing in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Aug 4,2017 : Twenty nine year old Shahistha Vayiz is Afghanistan’s first lady pilot. Shahistha who has single-handedly embarked on a world tour was in  Mangaluru recently and quietly left the city after enjoying the hospitality here.

An Afghan refugee, Shahistha presently is a resident of California. She had attracted the attention of the world by being a pilot at the age of 18. She later became a certified pilot of civil aviation. Since May this year she has embarked on the task of touring the globe by covering a distance of 28,800 kms in  her single engine Beach Craft Bonanza A-36. She began her 90 day voyage from her home land of Afghanistan and will cover 19 nations including India, Egypt and Singapore. During her visit to each nation, she interacts with the youngsters  there and tries to kindle an interest in science and maths among them.

However, during her recent visit to Mangaluru and her two day stay here she has not visited any place  but enjoyed the delectable coastal cuisine at her hotel.
