Mangaluru, Oct 5, 2015: Residents of Adyar in Mangaluru are sore over the police department for not solving the mystery behind the two year old case of suspicious death of college student Akshatha (18).
On October 5, Monday. several residents of Adyar under the leadership of the BJP Yuva Morcha staged a silent protest in front of the Pandeshwar Police station seeking justice to the family of Akshatha who was a second BA student at the Government College at Carstreet.
Akshatha who was reported missing on September 21, 2013 was found dead three days later at Mulihitlu, on the banks of a river. Akshatha’s college mate Madan who too went missing has not yet been traced.
The protestors alleged that Akshatha did not commit suicide but it was a case of murder. BJP leader Pradeep Shetty who too was part of the protest warned of a NH bundh near Adyar if the police failed to solve the case and trace Madan within a month.
Akshatha’s mother Rajeevi also participated in the protest. Later, a memorandum was submitted to the police officials seeking a CID investigation into the case.
