Adyar residents demand justice in college student Akshatha death case

Mangaluru, Oct 5, 2015: Residents of Adyar in Mangaluru are sore over the police department for not solving the mystery behind the  two year old case of suspicious death of  college student Akshatha (18).

On October 5, Monday. several residents of Adyar under the leadership of the BJP Yuva Morcha staged a silent protest in front of the Pandeshwar Police station seeking justice to the family of Akshatha who was a second BA student at the Government College at Carstreet.

Akshatha who was reported missing on September 21, 2013 was found dead three days later  at Mulihitlu, on the banks of a river. Akshatha’s college mate Madan  who too went missing has not yet been traced.

The protestors  alleged that Akshatha did not commit suicide but it was a case of murder. BJP leader Pradeep Shetty who too was part of the protest  warned of a NH bundh near Adyar if the police failed to  solve the case and trace Madan within a month.

Akshatha’s mother Rajeevi also participated in the protest. Later, a memorandum was submitted to the  police  officials seeking a CID investigation into the case.
