P. HarishekaranMangaluru, July 2, 2017: With a view to curb communal incidents and other crimes effectively, offices of Additional Superintendent of Police, Dakshina Kannada and of the District Crime Information Bureau (DCIB) will be shifted to Bantwal, said Inspector-General of Police (Western Range) P. Harishekaran on Saturday.

Speaking at the Bantwal Taluk peace committee meeting in B.C. Road, IGP  Harishekaran said police will crack down on persons allegedly involved in creating communal trouble and in the illegal sale of cannabis in the district.

Shifting of the offices of Additional Superintendent of Police and the DCIB will help in effectively dealing with trouble makers, he said.  Critical of the persons behind recent group clashes in Bantwal, IGP  Harishekaran said it was here that he found persons who wanted to create problems and give it a different colour.

The IGP said the police were searching the persons behind the group.

“These criminal elements will feel the heat of law,” he said. The arrests will be made on the basis of evidence that have been gathered, he added.

Superintendent of Police C.H. Sudheer Kumar Reddy and DK DC Dr. K.G. Jagadeesha addressed the committee.
