Accused who planted explosive device at Mangaluru airport surrenders in Bengaluru

Mangaluru, Jan 22, 2020:   Manipal resident Adithya Rao who was reportedly responsible for planting explosive device at Mangaluru International Airport on January 20, Monday has surrendered   at the DG and IGP office  at Bengaluru during the early hours of January 22, Wednesday.

An investigation team of the Mangaluru Police is expected to   leave for Bengaluru very soon in the wake of the development, tweeted City Police Commissioner Dr  P S Harsha.

The accused Adithya Rao (36), is an MBA degree holder and also an engineering graduate. He was once behind bars in 2018 after making a hoax bomb  call on August 30, 2018  after he could not get the job of a security guard at the Bengaluru Airport as he could not produce some documents.  It is believed that in order to avenge his punishment, he had planted the bag containing explosive device at Mangaluru Airport.

He had also reportedly made several hoax bomb calls in the past. It is learnt he had landed in Bengaluru in 2012 in search of a job and later worked for a private bank. Later he served as a security guard in Mangaluru for six months and in 2012 had even served the Udupi Puttige Mutt as a cook. Once again he went to Bengaluru and worked for an insurance company and had quit the job to  work as security guard at the Bengaluru airport but had failed in his attempt.
