Accused in case of rape attempt on minor commits suicide

Puttur, Oct 08, 2020:   An accused in the case of rape attempt of a minor, has reportedly committed suicide.

The deceased identified as Iqbal Sadiq (27)  was  facing charges of  attempting rape on a minor  at Ninnikallu in Belthangady taluk. The incident had occurred on August 29 and locals had trapped him and had handed him over to the police.

Iqbal who was in prison was later released on bail. However, he was very  depressed. It is learnt on  Tuesday  Sadiq and othres had a clash with a person named Rafique. Following this Sadiq feared he would have to face another case and reportedly ended his life on Wednesday.

Belthangady police are investigating the case.
