Absconding areca theft accused arrested after 12 years

Vittal, Aug 03, 2019: Police here have arrested  an accused in an areca theft case who was absconding by not appearing before the court since the past 12 years.

 

The arrested person is   Manju alias Manjunath (55).  It was in the year 2006 that a complaint was lodged alleging areca was stolen from the house of Ukkuda resident Andunhi.   Police had arrested Manjunath, a quarry worker and Ravi in connection with the case and had produced them before the court.

Of them, Manjunath who was released on bail  was absconding without appearing  before the court since 12 years. Police who traced him at Saibarakatte in Brahmavar of Udupi district, have arrested him and produced him before the court.
