Aadhaar not mandatory for ration cards: Sorake

Udupi, Sep 30, 2014: Speaking after inaugurating the revenue adalat here at Thekkatte, Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake has said that the Kumki land holders would be provided with right of the land shortly.  The minister said the decision, in this regard was taken in the Cabinet. As many as 78 surveyors were recruited in order to overcome the shortage of the surveyors in the district, the minister said.

Vinay Kumar So...10 adalats in a month :  He said measures were taken to organise 10 revenue adalats every month for the disposal of the pending applications. Henceforth the officials will themselves go to the taluk office and receive the applications for the disposal at the earliest. Regarding the ration card issue, the minister said the linking of ration card with EPIC card and Aadhaar card is posing a huge problem. However, from now onwards only EPIC card will be made mandatory and Aadhaar card is not compulsory. Measures will be taken to ensure ration facilities to the APL card holders.

AC Yogeshwar said that 10,397 applications were received for the RTC rectification of which 963 are pending, which will be sort out immediately. The victim of lightning Bhaskar Pana from Amparu was offered with a sum of Rs 70,000 as compensation.
